We depend on the sale of these items to support our programs and services.
In evaluating appropriate donations a good rule of thumb is to consider whether your family or friends would find the item s useful if you passed that item on to them.
Unfortunately the list of items that goodwill cannot currently accept does include mattresses and box springs.

Vehicles we are now accepting donations of vehicles in all conditions.
However mattresses and box springs take up a ton of space.
Some local branches of the salvation army and goodwill for example accept donations of mattresses and box springs provided that the items are clean and free of stains holes or other damage and some branches also offer free pick up.
For safety and sanitary reasons waterbeds and corresponding frames are not accepted by goodwill.
This includes waterbed mattresses and waterbed frames as well as traditional innerspring and foam mattress sets.
In many areas trash collectors will not take away used bedding either.
All of our stores take gently used items in good condition.
Many stores that deliver mattress and box springs will either refuse to take away old bedding or charge a hefty sum for the service.
However due to an ongoing lack of adequate storage space we ask that donors refrain from donating any oversized items including large furniture and exercise equipment thank you for your patience as we continue to manage the large volume of goods donated by our generous community.
